My mom signed my papers and field trip forms in grade school as Mrs. James Pennington. I was confused and embarrassed by her signature. I thought she forged my dad's name and could possibly get in trouble for doing so. I asked my mom, why don't you sign your name? She replied, "I do." I said your name isn't James Pennington, she responded, yes, it is. It was confusing as a child. As I got older, I understood my mom and dad united jointly. Because of their relationship, she has the power and authority to use his name without his permission. My mom knows her possession and authority as my dad's wife.

With God, you have the same authority as my mom has with my dad's name. God is your Father, and as a Child of God, you are a joint-heir with Christ! You are a receiver of God's inheritance through Jesus Christ. Because of Jesus' shed blood, God has already given you authority. You have the authority to gain access to the kingdom, to cast out demons, to speak life, and to overcome fear. Jesus' name has all authority and power. You must use the name of Jesus to exercise your authority. It is the same as having thousands of dollars in your bank account but you refuse to withdraw money or use your debit card to get gas. You will eventually run out of gas. If you do not use the power and authority God has given you, you will feel defeated and depleted.

If you are in a struggle and feel drained and inadequate, need renewed strength, and feel like you can't go on, don't be controlled by your emotions. Remember, God has given you the power and authority to overcome. Don't be afraid or intimidated to use what God has given you. Deliverance is in the word of God to defeat any giant.

Tap into the Word of God and know you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. To use your authority, you must know who you are in Christ Jesus. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Never doubt the power of God. Nothing is impossible to them that believe. God will do exceedingly, abundantly above all that you ask or think, according to the power that works in you. Call on the name of the Lord, and you shall be saved (delivered). Use the authority God has given you.
